#13 Tic, Tac, Toe / Art Shrine and a DT Call

Before we get down to the nitty gritty I am very sad to announce that we are losing two of our team this month. Rita Marie and Jolanda, who have both been with us since the beginning, are leaving us. We would like to thank them for all their hard work in supporting us from the conception of the blog for the entire first year, and wish them both much success in future endeavours. Thank you girls! As a consequence we are holding a DT call, so if you fancy joining us, please tack DT on the end of your name under your entry, or you can email me directly at the address in the side bar if you are interested and I can let you know the details and requirements.

Our theme for the month is a Tic, Tac, Toe challenge, but our's is slightly different to the norm with TTTs. If you pick the centre square which we have coloured yellow, the Shrine, then all you need is to create an Art Shrine of your own choosing, using any materials, colours, shapes, embellishments etc. However, if you would still like to play along with us, but Shrines are not your thing then you can choose any straight line to do so, so top or bottom left to right, or right and left top to bottom. If you really fancy challenging yourself then pick a line that goes through the centre square so you are creating a Shrine with the addition of the items either side of it! As long as it's mixed media, and not a card, it will qualify. Do please tell us though which route you have taken so the design team can see straight away what you have done with they visit your blog.

If you would like to play along with a shrine here is a definition of an Art Shrine. Obviously the traditional meaning of a shrine is something dedicated to the dead but they can also hold relics, mementos, treasures and items that are important to people. Some countries have portable shrines and that's how the Art Shrine came about and they tend to look a bit gothic or have Steampunk features. They are rather like a very decorative shadow box.

As you can see the team all went for a shrine!
Our host is Jenn, and she will be choosing our Winner and Top 5.

Instead of a physical prize this month we would like to offer our Winner a Guest Designer spot for a future challenge.

We hope our fabulous Design Team can inspire you. Please pop by their blogs and show them your appreciation

Hi everyone. I've gone for the more traditional shrine style and hope you like it.
Instructions for making are on my blog.

We look forward to seeing what you come up with!

  2. Sounds like an amazing challenge and the DT has out done themselves with these wonderful shrines! I am curious where to find the Tic Tac Toe board? I may be over looking it? Hugz! ~Niki

    1. LOL it was there when I scheduled it. I think Windows Live Writer must have gobbled it up. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. It's there now!
