Blog Closing

I’m sad to announce that the blog is closed as of today.

We gave it a good shot and I have been blessed with an amazing team of designers, but sadly our numbers have just gotten less and less until there seems little point in continuing.

To those of you who have supported us, but particularly to the amazing Design Team, past and present. Thank you and goodbye!

I am sure that any of the team will be delighted to see you pop by their personal blogs if you want to continue to admire their creations.

#15 Water

Welcome to our November Challenge.

Our theme for the month is Water
Splish, splash, splosh!
Water is such an integral part of our lives, the weather, rain, snow or storms. The landscape, the ocean, rivers and waterfalls. In our homes, cooking and cleaning. So many sports involve water, leisure and pleasure!
Show us your inspiration, what will you create?
We are intrigued, will it be a scrap page, a canvas, a 3D project or a tag?

Our host is Jan, and she will be choosing our Winner and Top 5.

Instead of a physical prize this month we would like to offer our Winner a Guest Designer spot for a future challenge.

We hope our fabulous Design Team can inspire you. Please pop by their blogs and show them your appreciation

Jan
I used a large tag and took the theme of water for life. I was inspired by a vase of wild flowers my husband brought from his Allotment!
I stamped, used texture paste, die cuts and fussy cutting!

Brigitte

my first creation for the DT
canvas : tissue paper, stencil and modeling paste, black acrylic paint and green patina. Letters are cut and embossed, some fishes and beads, more on my blog

Judy
This is my first project as DT and some of the products I used were canvas, modelling paste, several rubber stamps, acrylic paint, a selection of dies, digital image and both real and artificial shells. The other products used can be found on my blog.

I turned a clear plastic Christmas ornament into an aquarium. Some of the products I used were microbeads, heavy gel gloss, acrylic paint, spray inks, chipboard, real seashells, Inka Gold metallic paint and more. The way I layered the chipboard using wire gives it an awesome 3D look.

I made a mixed media advent calendar Pocket Letter. There is a pocket for every day in December so I have three Pocket Letters put together. I used frozen water - snow - for my theme this time! You'll find more photos of this BIG Pocket Letter on my blog.

Angela

#14 Wall Hanging – Tic, Tac, Toe

 Welcome to our October Challenge.

Our theme for this month is Wall Hangings.

If you don't fancy a wall hanging we have a Tic, Tac, Toe board for you to choose from. If you want to do the wall hanging, it's the centre square, then you do NOT need to do the squares either side of it, unless you fancy challenging yourself even further. Or you could pick any of the lines around the outside and miss out the wall hanging altogether. If you use the Tic, Tac, Toe, please tell us in your post which line you have used.

Our host is Lula, and she will be choosing our Winner and Top 5.

We are thrilled to be sponsored by

Mayoori
 Hello
I am Mayoori, living in beautiful state of Washington, with my two teenage daughters and very supportive husband. I have been crafting for years but plunged into scrapbooking after coming to USA 3 years back . Now I am totally involved in it and have recently dived into the deep ocean of mixed media.

Hope you will like this little piece of altered art.

Thank you The Mirror Crack’d for giving me this opportunity.

Mixed Media Canvas

This month I have chosen to make a Wall-hanging using the new Graphics 45 Rare Oddities papers which fits in with the Tic Tac Toe quite well. I have chosen the top line: Halloween, Black and It Flies. Instructions for making are on my Blog.

I decided to use the Tic Tac Toe grid, I followed the middle line, Time, Wall Hanging, Texture. I used an IKEA Malma mirror as the base. Every time I look in the mirror I am aware how Time is passing and so many Textures are developing!!!!

For this challenge I have made a colourful little wall hanging. Although all of the elements of the Tic Tac Toe are things that normally I would love to incorporate into my project I decided in a departure from my usual style to keep it simple.

Wall hanging made using a flat canvas panel, wooden frame, wooden embellishments and a plastic glitter spider. Black gesso was applied to the whole project. Webbing and word elements  were colored with Inka Gold metallic paints in orange and violet. Hot glue to make the webbing on the background. Plastic glitter spider adhered using hot glue bought from my local dollar store.

I have made a wall hanging from a box canvas, and used time and texture as my theme.

My wall hanging is a tribute to my lovely Mum. I used three MDF hearts from a set of six and decorated them mainly in pink and white. Details on my blog

I just used the middle square from the Tic Tac Toe board and made a wall hanging by painting a wooden plaque with acrylics before adding die cuts, stamping, tissue paper, texture paste and of course the quotation stamped on pieces of canvas.

New Team Announcements

Before we get down to the new team announcement I am really sad to announce that Carole is leaving us, and today is her last challenge with us. She has been with us a long time, but her life has gotten so hectic lately that she has taken the decision to cut back a little on her design work. Thank you Carole for everything

I am delighted to introduce some new team members

Brigitte/Coutureuse
I'm french, I live in the west of France, near Châteaux de la la Loire. I'm addict  at mixed media, textures, paint,  stuff, plaster, fabric,  everything is perfect for playing. I love trying new techniques, new media. Every project is a new adventure !!!!
It's a great pleasure for me to join the DT.
Hello! I'm Brittany, I'm a mother to two wonderful little boys as well as a student at the University of Oregon. Ever since I could remember I have always been passionate about art.
I've created many forms of art and in the last few years have gotten stuck on mixed media, and paper crafts. I love how so few materials can create so many different ideas. I started originally
with painting and drawing at a young age and over time have found that I couldn't just use one medium. I wanted to use every paint, ink and paper in my tool box. I hope to bring a little inspiration to the
Mirror Crack'd as I know it has inspired me.

My name is Judy McKay,  I retired 5 years ago and moved to the sunny Okanagan of British Columbia, Canada. I have two sons and 2 beautiful grandsons.
I have an addiction to paper crafts in particularly cards, art journaling, and mixed media. I also dabble in papermaking, encaustic art, fibre art, and altered books. I am an active member of several card and mixed media yahoo groups and participate challenge blogs.
My favourite quote is by Maya Angelou. “You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.”
I am very excited about joining the Crack'd Mirror Challenge Blog.

and last but not least

Lysa
Hello, I am Lysa (like Melissa without the "ma"). I currently reside in Washington State, USA. I have lived in the beautiful Pacific Northwest my whole life and I cannot imagine living anywhere else. I have been crafting pretty much my whole life, starting at the age of 5 with my grandmother. I found a love for paper crafting about 12 years ago when I made my very first scrapbook after a trip to Disney Land. These days I dabble in all things paper such as card making, scrapbooking, and making ATCs. I love to make mini albums, alter items, and I have recently found a LOVE for mixed media crafts. Crafting is not just a hobby but more of an outlet for me to express who I am or how I am feeling. I love being able to help my fellow crafty friends express themselves and help make their ideas become a reality. This is why I am excited to join this wonderful team.
